well well, i found this movie quite disturbing!! giving people the power to kill (i don’t care if they are robots, they look and act like people) is not right! the psychological and societal ramifications could be huge!  they say that once you have experienced the ‘thrill of the kill’ you are statistically more likely to kill again, which was implied in the movie when they laughed and hooted when they shot the first person. I would certainly hope that they received counselling prior to being integrated back into the ‘real world’! having said that, i found the whole concept of the movie quite intriguing, and the other worlds could be an interesting and fun holiday.

As for the Plot Points, i will have a go, but i struggled to notice as i was too engrossed in watching:

Act 1: WHO: there was two lead characters, however i didnt write down their names as i thought i would look at the script on script-o-rama.com, however when i did a search (of west world and western world) i couldnt find it on the website. The main lead was made out to be a likeable guy, very excited to be going on holiday, plus you were made to feel sorry for him as his wife apparently left him, took their daughter, and he still paid her out more than she was entitled to.  WHERE: this was set in a futuristic holiday destination, where holiday makers could choose one of three olden era worlds (wild west, roman or medieval) that were occupied by life like robots. WHAT: not sure if this was really established in the first act, however it could be assumed that maybe the robots would malfunction.

Plot Point 1: When the robot snake attacks one of the lead characters.  Thus confirming our assumption that the robots would malfunction.

Act 2: Pinch: Locked up, accused of killing someone, they break out of gaol and go on the run!!

Half way Point: Midway through Act 2, there was a long bar fight, which included lots of laughing, furniture breaking, and women screaming – of course our lead characters ended up unharmed apart from a hang over from drinking too much alcohol.

Pinch: the owners know the robots are starting to malfunction, they decide to keep the holdiay resort open, consciously risking the lives of the patrons.

Plot Point 2: One of the lead characters dies from a malfunctioning robot shooting him. All the robots go on a killing rampage (i’m not sure if this was explained well, i could understand why the first robot shoots the lead as they had already had a couple of run ins, however i was not sure why all the robots decided to go on a killing spree). Plus the power goes out, locking the people who control the robots in one room, so they cannot call for help or go to the aid of the patrons.

Malfunctioning Robot that kills one of the lead Characters

Act 3: Still not sure what the WHY is!! but the hero, who ends up the only person surviving, i think learns something. . . . . i’m really not sure what though!!
